Openings we already argued with the sun about

Not a polished portfolio of catalogue defaults — field notes from jobs where heat, dust, privacy, or street noise forced a specific glass and frame answer.

Every case below started with the same question: which wall misbehaves at 3 p.m.?

Nasr City west-facing living room after glazing upgrade
Nasr City · Residential

West flat that baked after lunch

Single-pane aluminum turned the living room into a kiln by early afternoon. We kept quieter north rooms on a lighter stack and put the money where the sun hits.

Thermal-break sliders with solar-control IGU on the west wall only. AC cycles lengthened within the first week — the client noticed before we called for the hinge check.

Clinic shopfront with clear laminated glass

Clinic front that rattled and fogged

The old shopfront sold the brand from the street but leaked noise into the waiting area and fogged whenever humidity rose. Appointments could not stop for a week-long rebuild.

Laminated clear glass kept signage sharp. Acoustic pairs quieted consult rooms. Install ran across two early mornings so the curb stayed open for patients by 9 a.m.

Villa garden wall with lift-slide panels
New Cairo · Villa

Garden wall that seized every spring

Wide sliding panels looked generous in the sales brochure and jammed after each dusty season. The terrace was decorative — unused after sunset.

Lift-slide systems with serviceable rollers and deeper brush seals brought evening air back into the dining room without inviting the desert inside.

Bedrooms that needed light without neighbours

Narrow light wells faced other kitchens across a few metres. Clear glass meant curtains closed all day — defeating the point of the opening.

Frosted laminated panes and tight casements gave daylight without a view into facing flats. A small job that changed how the rooms felt overnight.
